Barrons Solar Farm
A proposed development in Gedling, Nottinghamshire
About the project
Perigus Energy (previously Ørsted) is developing a solar farm in Gedling, Nottinghamshire. The site is located on land west of Burton Joyce and east of the A6211. If consented, the project could generate up to 49.9 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity.
The project aims to supply green and sustainable electricity to the national grid, directly supporting the Government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan which outlines a target of 45-47 GW solar power by 2030.
Environmental studies have started at the site. These studies, along with feedback from the local community and other stakeholders, will be used to shape the design of the project.

Community
Perigus Energy is dedicated to being an active partner in the communities where we develop, build, operate and own green energy assets such as solar farms.
In addition to providing clean, locally generated renewable energy, Barrons Solar Farm will deliver a range of local benefits. These include biodiversity enhancements such as improved hedgerows and the creation of new habitats, opportunities for local suppliers during the construction phase, and the establishment of a Community Benefit Fund to support local projects throughout the project’s duration.
We will consult the people who live and work near our projects to ensure that community benefit funds support those initiatives that are of most value to local people.
